CAPSR was created in 1994 to provide undergraduate students at the University of Houston-Downtown with an opportunity to participate directly in basic and applied polymer science research projects that are of academic and industrial significance.

UHD and the Department of Natural Sciences has established scientific and educational exchange programs in biotechnology and geosciences with several universities in Poland, Denmark, and Spain
