We'd like to have weekly updates of the efforts of each subcommittee. Rather than try to do this by phone, meetings or e-mail, it would be more efficient to keep track of this here. I'll go first. Check back here later today to see an update on the Fund Raising subcommittee efforts!

50th Science Engineering Fair of Houston


Dear

We are writing to invite you to help us make the 50th anniversary of the Science Engineering Fair of Houston (SEFH) the best ever ! The SEFH has always relied on community support. Your involvement and financial support will help us grow the talent we need for the future for our region.

About the Event
March 12-14, 2009 at George R. Brown Convention Center (brochure attached)
* Over 1200 students in grades 7-12 from 142 area schools will participate
* Over 32,000 projects take place at area schools leading up to this competition
* Students from Harris County and 16 surrounding counties
* Competition is designed to support student learning of science, technology, engineering and math through hands on learning and doing

Did You Know ?
* SEFH is the largest regional science fair in the United States
* Houston student winners go on to compete at state national, and international levels
* SEFH is an all volunteer, non-profit, with no permanent source of funding

How You Can Help ?
* Make a financial pledge / contribution (form attached)
* Provide judges - we need 800 ? by communicating / encouraging individuals
from your organization (form attached)
* Serve as a special awarding agency or sponsor a scholarship (contact us)

* Financial contributors are listed in printed brochure and on website
* Category sponsors (Engineering, Earth & Space Science, Medicine & Health, Energy & Transportation) are recognized in numerous ways including signage in the room
* New for this year - Limited number of Display Booths for companies, and area non-profits to engage with and add excitement to the fair are being offered

From its early days to now, SEFH has truly been a community project. With your support and involvement, we can continue to serve and motivate these fine students and teachers who have demonstrated interest in science, math, technology and engineering.
