This program will benefit students who intend to take AP courses in science and mathematics.

Students will explore science engineering and math concepts through “Hands-On” and “Minds-On” experiences, while preparing for careers in these fields.

The UHD Houston START Summer Program is a four-year enrichment program. Successful applicants will be eligible for the program in subsequent years. We anticipate openings for students completing their 9th, 10th and 11th grade; however, preference will be given to students who have successfully completed prior summer(s) and have maintained satisfactory academic grades and conduct.

New applicants must have completed the 8th grade prior to entering the UHD Houston START Summer Program. All applicants must have an overall “A” average in their academic courses. Students must also have satisfactory conduct grades within the most recent academic year.

Students must be willing to devote the entire three weeks of their summer vacation to this innovative program. Participants who complete the program are provided a $600 stipend.

Deadline to apply is March 28, 2008.
